What is Thermal Heat Treatment and how is it used for Pest Control?

Thermal Heat Treatment is a non-chemical approach to eliminating pests such as bedbugs, cockroaches, termites and other wood destroying organisms. Heated air is used instead of using chemicals to eliminate the pest infestation making this a great option for your your pest control needs. Insects have a “Thermal Death Point” in which they die at temperatures as low as a 120 degrees, making them no match for Thermal Heat’s propane heaters that deliver heated air through ducts to the infested area(s). For approximately one hour the temperature of the infested area is brought to approximately 150 degrees and then is held until internal wood temperature reaches 130 degrees. Tarps are hung from the eaves to create a thermal barrier and any heat sensitive items are either removed or protected with a special heat sensitive blanket. On average the Heat Treatment usually takes between 4 to 6 hours to complete.
